Please list here any changes you see need to be made in our Koha catalog.
From OPAC/Searching committee: Change "Welcome Jane Smith" to "Jane Smith's account" and in larger font for clearer return to patron account info.
From Richard: change ISSUES to something like CHECK OUTS.
From Lynne: change EXPIRY to EXPIRATION and change SUNDRY to miscellaneous
change availability in the patron OPAC to something simple like "In or Out?"
Stephanie -- here are notes I found, probably from previous meetings:
- explicit "Start Over" link
- "it doesn't ever say keyword" -- do we want it to?
- pre-made "Lists I created" options (ie "books I want to read)
Also, something to think about -- FRBR calls library materials "works."
Here's a link to the web site that lists the Library Terms That Users Can Understand -- http://www.jkup.net/terms.html. Note that LIBRARY CATALOG appears on the most misunderstood list.I think we should have a good discussion about what to replace the term with. Find books? Find books and more?
Here's a quote I like: "Use natural language equivalents on top-level pages, such as Borrowing from Other Libraries instead of Interlibrary Loan, or a Find Books option in addition to the library catalog name. Whenever possible, include "target words", such as Book or Article, that correspond to the end product the user is seeking. When needed, introduce more precise technical terms on lower-level pages."

make sure that the first screen for patrons in OPAC notes "lost" or "missing" . Follett just says OUT.
